Mahabalipuram : UNESCO World heritage Site





Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, India



Our Journey started in early morning to Mahabalipuram , also known as Mamallapuram , just 60 Km from Chennai. It is an ancient historic town.
It took around one hour to reach Mahabalipuram bus stand and from their our tour begins.

Its a small town with few very  famous sites and temples  along with that it has beautiful beaches and the view from light house is incredible .

 

History Point of View:

 7th Century it was a Port city of dynasty of the Pallavas. It has various historic monuments built largely between the 7th and the 9th centuries, and has been classified as a UNESCO World heritage Site. It has an average elevation of 12 metres (39 feet). The modern city of Mahabalipuram was established by the British Raj in 1827.
